It's your canon... except for one tiny detail...

One Tiny Detail is an old-style multifandom fest or ficathon - sign up with your fandom & prompt (more details below) and post your works here & on AO3 during the posting period. It's not unlike intoabar in some ways.

The central concept is somewhere between a canon divergence AU, Alternate History, and Other Setting AU that only applies to one speciifc aspect or character in the canon. I was reading the prompts for another fest, came across one that said something like "CMOT Dibber is now part of your canon" and hours later in the middle of the night a light went off in my head. Wouldn't that make a brilliant theme for a fest? And so onetinydetail was born.

It's your canon, except...
... one character is now from another time period/an alien/spy/angel/demon/vampire etc..
... King Arthur really did come back in England's hour of need
... one character has lost/gained super powers
... it now contains Miss Marple/CMOT Dibbler/Sherlock Holmes/The Doctor
... Love's Labours' Won exists.
... it's a world without shrimp
... there are evil penguins

Basically what has changed is one small detail in the worldbuilding or something (major or minor) affecting one character. The lines between this and other types of AUs may be a little fuzzy, but that's the basic rule - everyone's a mermaid AU = NO. One of the regulars is secretly a mermaid = YES. For worldbuilding the lines are a little harder to draw, but, again, it should be one specific thing that is changed while everything else remains the same.

There will be a prompting post and we'll collect prompts from there, round them up into categories and these will be the prompts that you will select from. There will also be the option to have a prompt randomly selected (from the whole list or selected categories).

So, basically, everything in your canon is the same... except for one tiny detail that has always been different.

No matter what the prompt, it is entirely up to you whether you go for angst, action, humour, crack played straight, or straight up crack. You can make it all about the worldbuilding - e.g. the Cadfael series + "your fandom now has mobile phones" might involve a lot of worldbuilding about how there come to be some strange/magical talking devices resembling phones in the 11th Century or can just go for the humour in Cadfael mystery solving while being plagued by texts from Prior Robert. Entries may be shippy or not as you please. The work doesn't have to be all about the detail changed, but it should recognisably feature in it in some way. Basically, once you have the fandom and the prompt, it's up to you what you do with it.
